Independence Day

Psychiatry is the branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.

Dr. Robert Lagrou is Triad Counseling Center’s supervising psychiatrist. Dr. Lagrou is a Doctor of Psychiatry with training from Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University & the University of Michigan. He has both inpatient and outpatient experience, specialized training in child and adolescent psychiatry and is a proud member of the Army National Guard.

Dr. Lagrou works directly with our staff PA-C, Victoria Piggott, to conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and medication reviews for children, adolescents and adults who are current clients at Triad Counseling Center. It is the policy of Dr. Lagrou and Triad Counseling Centers that all psychiatry work with clients begins with the outpatient therapy of the counselors here at Triad. This means that appointments with the psychiatry team are obtained through the recommendation of our therapists, and attendance with them must be maintained throughout psychiatric treatment and prescribing of medication(s).

For children and adolescents, both parents or guardians are required to attend the intake session and for anyone under 18 at least one parent or guardian must attend follow-up and medication review sessions.

Triad Counseling Centers also offers services that allow our psychiatry team to monitor how medications are metabolizing in the body. Triad’s medication monitoring is done in collaboration with an off-site lab, following a unique process that allows for the review of how the medications prescribed are working in the body through an oral sample at her intervals of either each 30, 60, or 90 days.
